Why your website gets visitors but no enquiries (and how to fix it)

Traffic is useful only if the right visitors can understand your offer and take the next step. When enquiries are low, check the audience, the information on the page and the contact process before assuming that a new design will solve everything.

First, establish what the numbers mean

A visit is not necessarily a potential customer. Traffic can include people outside your service area, existing customers looking for opening hours, automated requests or visitors researching a different service. Where consented analytics is available, compare relevant landing pages and acquisition sources with actual enquiries. Avoid drawing conclusions from a handful of visits.

Also check the enquiry route itself. A clear form is not useful if submissions fail or notifications reach the wrong inbox. Use an agreed test enquiry and confirm receipt before changing the page around an assumed conversion problem.

Four common obstacles to enquiries

1. The offer is difficult to understand

A visitor should be able to identify what you provide, who it is for and where you work. Replace broad claims such as “complete solutions” with a specific service and an understandable outcome. Your website design should give this information a clear place near the start of the page.

2. Important questions remain unanswered

For a local service, useful questions include:

  • Do you offer the service I need?
  • Do you work in my area?
  • What affects the price or the next available appointment?
  • What happens after I contact you?

You do not need to promise a fixed price for every job. Explain the starting point and how a quote is prepared.

3. The contact process takes too much work

Review the page on a phone. Check that the main action is easy to find, required fields are justified and any error message explains how to continue. Give people a clear choice between sending a message and booking a conversation where those options are genuinely available.

4. The page offers little evidence of the business

Use accurate company details, relevant work examples and genuine reviews where you have permission to use them. Explain your real location and service area. A business can serve UK customers remotely without claiming to have a UK office. Our About page identifies the studio and its registration in Sweden.

Choose one improvement to assess

Start with the most visible obstacle: clarify a service description, repair a failed enquiry route or simplify the next step. Keep a dated record of the change and compare relevant enquiries over a sensible period. Changes in traffic and demand can affect the result, so a better page cannot guarantee more business.

For a short initial review, use the Free Growth Check. A website redesign or ongoing Growth Care may be appropriate after the problem and scope are clear.
