A dated website does not automatically need a new platform. The decision depends on which parts still serve the business, which create friction and whether the existing system can support the next stage of work.
Start with an inventory of what works
Before deciding on a rebuild, list the useful pages, enquiry routes, integrations and account access you already have. If search data is available, identify pages that attract relevant visitors. Record important URLs and the services they represent.
A visual review alone will not answer every question. A page can look old and still bring valuable enquiries; a modern-looking site can have broken forms or unclear content.
When a redesign may be enough
A website redesign can change content, navigation and contact flow as well as visual design. It may be suitable when the underlying platform is supported, you control the necessary accounts and the main functions still meet your needs.
Typical priorities include:
- Making service descriptions easier to understand.
- Improving navigation and mobile layouts.
- Bringing company information and contact details up to date.
- Reducing unnecessary steps before an enquiry.
- Reusing strong existing photographs and work examples.
When a new build deserves consideration
A new website design may be more practical where the current system is difficult to maintain, essential access is missing or the business needs a substantially different structure. Integrations and content migration still need to be assessed; starting again does not make those requirements disappear.
Ask for a comparison of the work needed under each option. The cheapest headline quote may exclude migration, redirects, content preparation or future subscriptions.
Protect existing URLs and useful content
For either route, decide what will happen to each important old page. Where a URL changes, plan the appropriate redirect and check the destination after launch. Preserve useful information and verify that forms, booking links and analytics settings work as intended.
This reduces avoidable disruption, but no redesign can guarantee that search rankings will remain unchanged. Search engines may need to recrawl and reassess the site.
Cost and timing should follow the scope
Our current starting price for a redesign is £990 excluding VAT. A Starter Website starts at £790 excluding VAT and has a different scope. See current pricing and use the written proposal for the actual project price and schedule.
There is no useful universal deadline for every rebuild. Page count, content readiness, integrations and review rounds affect the plan. Agree responsibilities and decision points before work starts.
If you are unsure which route fits, begin with the Free Growth Check. Website Care and Growth Care can be considered separately after the build requirements are understood.
