A DIY website builder can be a sensible choice. Hiring a studio can also be worthwhile. The better option depends on your available time, content, required functionality and the support you want after launch—not simply the name of the platform.
When DIY may suit the business
A small, straightforward site can work well when you have time to learn the editor, prepare the content and test the result. Templates can provide a useful starting point. Before choosing a plan, check the current supplier price, renewal terms, domain arrangements and any additional app fees.
The main commitment is responsibility. Someone still needs to keep information accurate, check mobile layouts and enquiry forms, manage access and understand what is included in the subscription.
When studio support may add value
A studio can help organise an unclear offer, plan several service pages, prepare content and manage a more involved launch. It may be useful when you do not have the time or confidence to coordinate these tasks yourself.
Our website design work is scoped around the business and its enquiry route. Andersen Innovations Studio is registered in Sweden and serves UK clients; we do not present remote service as a UK-based office or team.
Compare the work, not a promise about the platform
| Question | DIY route | Studio route |
|---|---|---|
| Who prepares and maintains the content? | Usually you or your team | Responsibilities should be written into the proposal |
| Who tests forms and mobile layouts? | You need an agreed testing routine | Confirm what the handover and testing cover |
| How are extra features priced? | Check plan and app fees | Check quoted integrations and recurring services |
| Who owns accounts and content? | Review the platform’s terms and access | Confirm ownership and administrator access in writing |
| What happens after launch? | Arrange your own support | Agree any separate care or improvement service |
Both routes can produce useful, discoverable websites, and both can produce poor results if the content or implementation is weak. A studio build does not guarantee better rankings, inclusion in AI answers or a particular number of enquiries.
Budget for the whole arrangement
Our Starter Website currently starts at £790 excluding VAT for one page. Other packages and a redesign have different starting prices and scope. Use the current pricing page, not a comparison with an unrelated subscription fee, when assessing the options.
Website Care and Growth Care are separate optional services. A digital business card may suit a narrower sharing and contact need, but it is not a substitute for every function of a full website.
If you already have a DIY site, the Free Growth Check can help identify what is worth keeping and what needs attention before you decide to rebuild.
